Goodwill is thrilled to announce the completion of our “Building Hope…It’s Everyone’s Job” capital campaign with the addition of another $515,000 in new pledges in August. The gifts include an anonymous gift of $500,000 and a $15,000 gift from America First Foundation. These two gifts bring the total amount raised to $10,002,439. The Building Hope campaign enabled the Omaha Goodwill to relocate our retail, administration and training facility from 41st and Pacific Street to 4805 North 72nd Street in Benson Park Plaza. This new 70,000-square-foot facility houses the agency’s largest retail store in the metro, along with training rooms, administrative offices and public meeting spaces.
Through the first seven months of this year, Goodwill’s services have risen dramatically to a total of 9,954 people served, with many of those finding employment. Participants in Goodwill’s job programs have increased and benefited because of the new facilities. The number of participants in the R.E.A.D.Y. (Real Employment Assistance for Developing You) program has climbed 20 percent since September 2010, allowing Goodwill to provide free job skills training to anyone who needs assistance.
The new facility has also made Goodwill more accessible to the entire community by hosting several regional conferences and community-based events. Goodwill will be forever grateful to our community for its overwhelming support.
