On the twelfth day of Back to School shopping,
Goodwill gave to me…

Twelve months of savings

Eleven supported programs
Ten percent off with the Goodwill card
Nine flavors of lattes
Eight #2 pencils
The Seventh version of Windows
Six-packs of socks
Five shelves of books
Four desk legs
Three clothing sections
Two desk lamp settings
And one stop for all my Back to School shopping needs!

By now, we all know that Goodwill is great for back to school time, but we are also a great shopping option all year round! You can visit us at one of our 15 current retail, computer, and specialty stores around the Omaha Metro area. In October, plan to visit our newest store in Gretna for your Halloween costume or some early holiday shopping! Remember, when you shop Goodwill the money you spend helps to fund our employment and training programs. These programs help people around the area find meaningful careers. This is why shopping at Goodwill is good for you and great for the community.

Happy back to school shopping!

  • Customer Connect
  • READY (Real Employment Assistance for Developing You)
  • Adult Career Program
  • Dislocated Worker Program
  • Partnership for Youth Development
  • Ability One Contracts

Little known fact, but coffee shops were actually invented for studying. Somewhere along the line, somebody got the idea to add coffee as a way of making studying more enjoyable.

And the Goodwill Coffee House at the Benson Park Plaza Goodwill retail store makes studying oh-so enjoyable. We think we did the math right, and that’s how we came up with nine flavors of lattes, but there’s a lot more at the Coffee House too! In addition to other coffee drinks, we have smoothies, soft drinks, tea, sandwiches for lunch and breakfast and loads of other snacks.

And there are tables of both the high-top and low variety at the Coffee House as well, where you have room to spread out your books in the cozy environment and zone out into whatever land your mind has been assigned.

So grab your homework, grab a coffee and get to work at Goodwill!

Standardized tests are a necessary evil for students of all ages. And what do you need for a standardized test? #2 pencils to fill out those fun bubble sheets! Guess what? Goodwill has #2 pencils. They are available in fun colors, if you want to stand out, or the standard yellow, if you are more of a rule-follower.

In addition to the pencils, Goodwill carries pens, erasers, scissors, and pencil bags for carrying all your new supplies. You can find these stocked in our new goods sections. New goods are available at every Goodwill location, so pick them up while you are thrifiting and save yourself a trip.

These days, nothing says “Back to School” quite like a computer. Literally. The way computers speak, it’s all stiff and robotic and maybe you can kind of do an impersonation of it, but it won’t be as good as an actual computer. Like nobody is going to confuse you for a robot if you call them up and say “Back to school.”

But anyway, the computers. You’ve got your papers you need to write. Your research you need to do. Maybe you need to run some spreadsheets for a math class. Maybe you need to do some photo editing for an art class.

Well fortunately for you, not only do we have an amazing selection of great, gently used computers at our GoodBytes store at 72nd & F, but now they come pre-loaded with the Windows 7 operating system. That means your computer isn’t going to be limited just because it’s had a little use. It’s going to be able to run all the latest software that you’ll need to use as part of your studies.

But GoodBytes doesn’t just sell computers. We’ve got the monitors, the printers, the keyboards, the mice (mouses?) plus lots of video games and other electronics, all under one roof. And if you’re a bit of an electronics hobbyist, the technicians there appreciate older gadgets that might have some interest to collectors, so you can find those too (but we don’t recommend using those for your back to school needs).

So come check them out. Our staff can help you pick out the right computer for your needs and help this school year get off to a great start without spending much money!

When it comes to back to school shopping, it seems that kids either love it or hate it. Either way, Goodwill is a great option for taking kids back to school shopping! For those kids that love picking out their newest back to school outfits, Goodwill’s low prices means that they can get more items and still stick to a budget.

For those that despise shopping, Goodwill is a one-stop shop for all of your back to school clothes. Gently used jeans, tees, and shoes help fill closets. Check out our new goods sections for items to complete the wardrobe, like this six pack of socks.

In addition to socks, our new goods section has underwear, toothpaste, and cleaning supplies to stock up on for the new school year!

The 12 Days of Back to School Shopping: Day 5

On the fifth day of Back to School shopping,
Goodwill gave to me…

Five shelves of books

Four desk legs
Three clothing sections
Two desk lamp settings
And one stop for all my Back to School shopping needs!

We have not yet entered that part of the future when all books are digitized and everything you’d ever want to read is available on your tablet computer, and I’m always having to buy a new tablet computer because I keep dropping mine in the bathtub. So until that day, books are where it’s at.

And Goodwill is where the books are!

If your school is like mine was, you’re going to have to read (a lot of them seem to be that way these days). And the cost of those books adds up quickly. So don’t forget Goodwill when you’re doing your book shopping!

We’ve got your classics. We’ve got your Cliff’s Notes. We’ve got your reference books. And don’t forget the mind-expanding power of reading books that nobody assigned you to read. When it comes to the younger readers, we have loads of books that are super fun, and some of them are even secretly educational!

So stop by Goodwill and browse through those five shelves of books. Take my word for it.

Desks are essential for school. Students of all ages need a quiet, dedicated space to study.

What should you look for in a good desk? First, make sure has a dedicated space for all of your extra school supplies — no getting up for a new pencil or a blank sheet of paper. Desks should be big enough to do your work on, but small enough that they don’t take up a lot of room in your house, apartment or dorm. A desk should be clean and free from distractions.

It is also important to get a chair that is ergonomic, but not so comfortable that you want to take a nap. Goodwill always has great desks and chairs that match all of these great qualities, like these at the Benson Park Plaza store. While you’re there, pick up one of the items featured Tuesday — it’ll help you study on your new desk into the wee hours of the night.
