Halloween is almost here and I still haven’t picked out a Halloween costume but it’s not too late. I’m going to take you through the process of picking out the perfect Halloween costume at Goodwill.
The first step is brainstorming. I have learned the hard way that you can’t just walk aimlessly down aisles in hopes of having that perfect idea jump out at you, it just doesn’t work. I first wrote down all my favorite movies/TV shows/books/etc. to start off the process.
After I did that I went through all of the ideas and narrowed down the list to all the characters that had a distinct look and would be fairly simple to impersonate with items found at Goodwill. My list had characters like Harry Potter, Marty McFly, Dwight Schrute, Forrest Gump, Indiana Jones and a few more. The one that stuck out was Forrest Gump because the costume is fairly simplistic and my girlfriend I will be dressing up with is named Jenny.
The next step is to head to any Goodwill and let the search begin. I decided what I needed was a light color pair of pants, a blue plaid shirt and a briefcase. The pants were the easiest to find and the size was perfect too. It took me a little while to find the shirt but I found a light blue polo button up that looked just like his. The hardest thing to find was a briefcase and unfortunately I never end up finding one but I knew I could still make the costume work.
I had the perfect costume and it only cost me $7.00. Goodwill is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re going to get.
