GUEST BLOG: What I did with my $100 Goodwill gift card

In June, we sent out a survey to all of our Goodwill Card holders to get their feedback on their shopping and donating experience. Everyone who participated in the survey was entered into a drawing to win a $100 Goodwill gift card. Our winner, Julie Powell of Bellevue, shared with us how she spent her $100 gift card.

Some of Julie's purchases from her $100 gift card. She found all this and still had $39 left!

When the survey was emailed to me, I was more than happy to fill it out. I really believe in Goodwill’s cause … and who doesn’t want to win $100 worth of wonderful Goodwill items?

I’ve been a Goodwill customer all my life. As a child growing up in a large family, my mother was able to clothe all six children with the help of Goodwill. In turn, my children turned to the Goodwill for unique items that made them stand out — from the red jacket worn for the Ron Burgundy costume for my son to the sparkly evening gown for my daughter, just to name a few. My cousins and I have a monthly “Cousins Day” which always includes a shopping trip to the Goodwill and may or may not include photos of us trying on Duck Dynasty style camouflaged waders! 😉

I’m pretty sure my mom made weekly visits to the Goodwill in her town until her passing this past March. During that sad time, the first stop my son and daughter-in-law made after getting into town was to the Goodwill to buy me a very special comfort present … the “Ain’t Nothing Gonna Break My Stride” mug which has become my favorite.

I’ve had so much fun shopping with my gift card. I’ve purchased the items pictured and I still have $39 left!

I’m so thankful for the gift Goodwill has given me!
