Giving Tuesday is a global generosity movement celebrated the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. Started in 2012 to raise awareness and funding for global nonprofits, Omaha’s Giving Tuesday is powered by SHARE Omaha. Join Goodwill Omaha and SHARE Omaha on Nov. 30 to become one of more than 30 million people who will give to nonprofits on Giving Tuesday this year.

Your Giving Tuesday donation directly helps people in our community who face barriers to employment, whether they have a disability, need additional skills training, or require re-entry job services. You can help the participants in our programs as they prepare to enter the workforce by donating items like steel-toed boots for a student in our YouthBuild program or medical scrubs for a student in our Employment Solutions CNA classes. Your monetary gifts also go directly into our self-funded programs, which we provide to the community at no cost.

Ready to do some good for the community? Give now using donation code GIVINGTUESDAY to be counted among those who are taking action to support people in need in our community.

Stories of Success: Meet Gabe

When you donate to Goodwill Omaha, you’ll help people like Gabe, an Employment Solutions participant. Gabe came to Goodwill Omaha after rheumatoid arthritis made it too difficult to work and he became homeless as a result.

“It was a very humbling experience,” Gabe said, thinking back to that time. “I don’t ever want to do that again.”

Most Employment Solutions participants end up working at one of our business partners’ organizations. Goodwill Omaha has more than 200 business partners in the Omaha metro area. But it was a job right here at Goodwill that helped Gabe land on his feet. He continues to take courses in our Employment Solutions program to build the skills for a changing world. Watch Gabe tell his story.

Support YouthBuild

Goodwill’s YouthBuild Americorps program is a national educational, leadership, development, and occupational skill-training program for disadvantaged young adults and is a proud partner of the American Job Center Network.

Help disadvantaged young people earn occupational training by giving the gift of a jacket or pair of work boots.

Support Employment Solutions

Goodwill’s Employment Solutions program is designed to help people with disabilities and disadvantages get the job training, certification, and skills they need to find independence and success through work. Then, we connect participants with our local business clients to place them in jobs, and we provide ongoing support for both our program participants and our clients.

You can help disadvantaged Employment Solutions participants who are in Goodwill’s free Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) classes find employment by donating a set of medical scrubs.
