Are you looking to fulfill community service hours? Goodwill Omaha offers a community service program with limited opportunities for individuals and high school students in the Omaha area.
Be sure to read the full explanation of our community service program, as our criteria for community service requests have changed.
Goodwill Omaha’s Community Service Program
The heart of Goodwill Omaha’s mission is second chances, and we offer limited opportunities for individuals required to fulfill court-ordered community service hours. Adult community service hours must be approved by Goodwill Omaha’s Employment Solutions team prior to the start date.
Goodwill also offers opportunities for high school students required to perform community service in order to graduate. This program has a presence at several of our locations, and students may request a specific location after they have been accepted into the community service program.
How Do I Apply to the Community Service Program?
Goodwill Omaha has a responsibility to our customers, donors, clients, program participants and employees to ensure their safety and comfort at all times to the best of our ability, in all of our retail stores, donation centers, headquarters and training facilities.
For this reason, we accept community service referrals and requests only from the following:
- Agency case managers
- Approved agency contacts
- Social workers
- Local probation offices
- School district employees (e.g., advisors, guidance counselors, activity sponsors, other district employees)
Goodwill Omaha does not accept community service applications or requests directly from individuals or students, their parents/guardians, or extracurricular organizations. For high school students, community service referrals must be made by a school district employee.
In keeping with our commitment to providing a safe environment for our customers, clients and employees, Goodwill does not accept community service candidates with a conviction for any of the following:
- Any crime of a violent or sexual nature (this includes stalking, terroristic threats, endangerment, harassment, etc.)
- Any crime against a child or minor
- Any type of theft, burglary, robbery or shoplifting
Adults accepted into Goodwill Omaha’s Community Service Program will be required to read and sign an agreement outlining Goodwill’s rules, expectations and requirements before they begin community service at any of our locations. Any breach or violation of this agreement will result in immediate dismissal from the community service program and notification of dismissal to the agency representative who referred you to Goodwill.
Students accepted into Goodwill Omaha’s Community Service Program will be required to read and sign an acknowledgment of expectations, requirements and acceptable behavior before they begin volunteering at any of our locations. Any breach or violation of this agreement may result in immediate dismissal from the volunteer program, and the school district representative who referred you to Goodwill may be notified.
